| Mocha Moms, Inc. Embraces Disney’s Upcoming Animated Musical The Princess and The Frog National mother’s organization launches robust national campaign to engage parents and children in fostering positive images of the African American family Upper Marlboro, Maryland – Mocha Moms, Inc., the national, non-profit support organization for at-home mothers of color, has developed a nationwide campaign inspired by Disney’s upcoming film The Princess and The Frog, marking the debut of the entertainment giant’s first African American princess, Princess Tiana. Chapters throughout the country will use the theme of the film, music, food and culture to convey the importance of strong families, including hosting nationwide “Pink Carpet Premieres” at local movie theaters, Wii House parties and “Family Cook Ins” using “The Princess and the Frog” cookbook to honor Mocha Dads and men who make a difference. The movie launches nationwide on December 11.
“Mocha Moms around the country have been anticipating the release of this spectacular film for years so we could share it with our children,” says Dee Dee Jackson, national president of Mocha Moms, Inc. “We have had the privilege of watching a sneak peek of the movie. We were absolutely mesmerized by the wonderful jazz music, authentic New Orleans setting and endearing characters the Disney animators have brought to life. We are thrilled to be a part of this historic launch.”
In August, attendees of the Mocha Moms, Inc. National Conference in Chicago were treated to a behind-the-scenes sneak peek of scenes from the movie. Already, Mocha Dads have participated in “Father Daughter” experiences in select cities. Mocha Moms families have hosted house parties featuring Wii’s new video game The Princess and the Frog. Girls enjoyed Cajun cuisine, from gumbo to beignets, listened to jazz and left with goody bags full of Disney giveaways and New Orleans style memorabilia. Now chapters from New York to California are mobilizing for a massive Adopt-A-Theater effort with an opening weekend ticket pre-sale push and customized pink carpets in select markets symbolic of princesses and the organization’s trademark pink and brown colors.
“We are overjoyed that our children will now have a chance to see a princess who is just like them. The beautiful images of Princess Tiana will influence their imagination for many years to come,” says Jackson.
